Dear colleagues and friends:

I feel happy to be part of a new issue of our increasingly prestigious journal, RACI. Recently, at the Palacio San Martín, we held the 1st celebration on occasion of the International Day of the Interventional Cardiology, decreted by UN on September 2nd, 2022, due to an initiative of CACI and with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Directorate of International Organizations of the Nation.

We counted on the presence of the guest of honor Dr. Julio C. Palmaz, inventor of the Stent, device that undoubtedly has revolutionized our practice in all corners of the world.

Authorities from scientific societies such as TCT, PCR, SOLACI, and from governmental agencies such as Ministry of Health, United Nations, WHO, and Ministryof Foreign Affairs, accompanied us in-person and virtually.

The date September 16th commemorates the International Day of the Interventional Cardiology in tribute to the 1st angioplasty performed by Dr Andreas Gruentzig in 1977.

The UN resolution recognizes that our specialty improves health, increases life expectancy, enhances quality of life and that “Angioplasty has been the procedure that has saved the greatest number of myocardium grams at risk in the world.”

On the one hand, we still have a lot to do, both in primary as well as in secondary prevention, but this recognition is of great value and this event should serve to reaffirm our commitment to cardiovascular health.

On the other hand, we are getting closer to meeting face to face again in our Annual Congress that will be held next November 24th-26th at Hilton Pilar Hotel where the Assembly for the election of the new authorities of our college will also take place.
