Universal scientific knowledge nourishes from the intercommunication between basic and clinical research authors and the practicing physicians who apply new methods onto their patients.

The use of the strict scientific method that follows all pre-clinical and clinical research phases must be communicated in publications, where editors and consultants will evaluate methodology and originality as well as adequate and precise diction, to assure that the results are clear and understandable to those the article is meant for.

A scientific journal, no matter which kind of science it focuses on, should generate regional, national and ideally international interest, this way the conclusions will be compared by a greater intellectual mass, who will in turn expand and duplicate the obtained results.

Generally in medicine a single publication is not enough for a new drug or procedure to become widely used. A second -or more- clinical research indicating which has been the focus of the investigation is needed for such drug or practice to be accepted for massive use in humans.

Publishing, therefore, has a high impact on the professional population, and the wider and more diverse the spectrum of readers is, the faster the general population will benefit from those new findings.

All investigations should be published, even those with negative results or those which don´t seem to matter enough for a complex treatment. Many discoveries were based on starting point data that seemed insignificant. Take penicillin, for instance, where a matter of daily observation that had not been regarded as important before, gave way to the birth of antibiotics.

The RACI journal published its first issue on 2009, and has since then grown into a publication with all the necessary attributes to become the most important Argentinean publication on Cardiovascular Interventionalism.

Presently, the journal is in charge of Dr. Alfredo Rodriguez as Chief Editor, and Associate Editors as myself back him up in his arduous task, as we, along with the Editorial team, the scientific secretariat, national and international advisors and the rest of the staff, search for ways to broaden our horizons into Latin America and Spain, and from there reach as many countries as possible.

The importance of scientific publications is the importance of being able to apply the best known medicine to benefit all patients.
