Dear colleagues,

As you all know, 2021 will still be jagged by another COVID-19 pandemic year. Although we wish nothing more than going back to normal, we should all be prepared for the fact that, for the time being, we won’t return to what we used to call the “old normal”.

The challenge for the Argentinian College of Interventional Cardioangiologists (CACI) faces this year will be to go back as much as possible to on-site activities within the framework of the rules and regulations established by the City of Buenos Aires, and the Argentine national government.

With all this in mind, the doors of our college reopened physically. As a matter of fact, they were never fully closed as virtual meeting were still being held, and the simulation center doors were also opened with the clear idea of performing activities under a controlled environment and with a number of authorized people per square meter of enclosed space.

The specialty degree, the update training course, and the seminar for nurses and technicians will all be taught by combining on-site and virtual presentations using the assembly hall and the simulation center at the 5th floor.

Annual activities like meetings with auditors, industry meetings, and CACI ANMAT conferences will also be performed following this hybrid model.

Together with the Argentine Ministry of Health and ANMAT we will be working to vaccinate all of our members against COVID-19.

In 2021, CACI Education Department and Innova CACI we will be conducting the first free-of-charge, open-access CACI-ICI Innovation seminar (also free of charge) for colleagues from other medical specialties. It will also take place virtually with the participation of renown colleagues and top international scientific researchers and innovators.

CACI journal (RACI) will keep being published in Spanish and English. Also, in 2021 we will open the possibility for the industry to post announcements in our journal digital edition.

As you can see the intention of the actual board of directors is to keep working with as much normalcy as possible while taking care of our colleagues, employees, and friends.

We should not forget that COVID-19 is still part of our lives. Please keep taking care of each other and using the personal protection equipment (PPE) required and the prophylactic health measures implemented that we all know so well both in and out of the cath lab even after receiving the vaccine.

If we all take care of each other and keep working together we will overcome all the difficulties that may arise as we always have.
